Samhain (Summer’s End) is the highest holy day of witches and one of four Major Sabbats. Samhain is a time when we say goodbye to Summer and usher in Winter (despite any personal distaste we may have about the cold days ahead).
Samhain is the Wiccan New Year and the third and final harvest festival of the year. Samhain is considered the Day of the Dead because it is believed that at Samhain, the veil between the world of the dead and the world of the living is thinnest. Spirits and souls of loved ones are said to have more power and ability to visit with us at this time.
It’s a particularly powerful time to receive – or request – a message or sign from someone who has passed on.
Other powerful intentions to hold during Samhain include reflection on past faults or misdeeds and creating a method for healing or releasing past issues.
And remember, there are numerous covens and solitary witches celebrating and casting spells at this time of year. Tap into that energy. Feel the expansion.
