I’m super excited about this weekend’s Three Card Draw because it’s coming from a brand new deck – the Wisdom of Avalon Oracle Deck by Colette Baron-Reid

The accompanying guidebook explains that legend has it that there was a sacred isle in ancient Britain called Avalon where priestesses studied the laws of Spirit and honoured the Goddess and the Divine Force.  It was believed that only priestesses could part the veils of the ethereal magical mist that rose above the waters that once existed there to find their way to Avalon’s shores.

Avalon faded into the mist as its influence waned in the shift and blending of pagan and Christian cultures at the time of the legendary King Arthur.

Even today, people still flock to Somerset, England in search of a mystical connection, visiting the site of Glastonbury, where it is believed that Avalon physically existed at one time and now lives on in another dimension.

They feel quite powerful.  And now I need to go to England.  Post-pandemic, of course.

I hope you took a minute to pick your card!!

The reveal is below…..

Card 1 – The Raven

As soon as I flipped this card, I thought of Game of Thrones! Send a raven!! And of course, the Three Eyed Raven who – in case you didn’t watch – could see past, present, and future events through visions and time travel. So it’s no surprise that the keywords for this card are magic, coincidences, and synchronistic events.

If you picked The Raven today, be on the lookout for magic.

And this is not a small thing – we all have those moments when you think of someone and they text, or look at the clock and consistently see 11:11 or some other repeating numbers – those little magical moments are fairly commonplace. The Raven is upping the ante here on magic – there is a sign coming and you definitely won’t miss it. It’s significant.

If you’re not really feeling that your life is magical or exciting at the moment, you can use this card to remind you that this energy is around you more than you know.

Even if you can’t see it, please trust that picking this card is a very good sign that joy is coming into your life, and that your current circumstances are just that – current. Not permanent. Brighter days are ahead.

The Raven is here to remind you that if you believe in magic, you cannot help but see it. All things are possible if you believe.

For now, just expect the unexpected and prepare to be amazed. Again, this is no small thing.

Card 2 – Fear

Ok, so here’s an interesting card. Fear asks you to contemplate the darker side of your thoughts – what are you afraid of? Sit with that for moment. Ask again – what are you afraid of?

There’s so many fears that swirl around in our heads on a daily basis – and right now there’s also a collective consciousness of fear and anxiety that we’re all tapping in to and being impacted by. It’s a big deal. This underlying energy often triggers our own personal fears and brings them rushing to the forefront. It’s a lot right now.

There’s an expression in the book that spoke to me so I’m putting it out there to see if it speaks to any of you – “Fear is a crippling companion…” I did a full stop there.

It continues, though, to say that Fear indicates a loss of faith and loss of connection to a Higher Power, whatever that happens to represent in your life – whatever name you call it by. I had to stop there as well.

For me, it’s the Universe. That’s what I call it. And while I don’t have all the answers, what I know for sure is that when I feel connected to that source, I feel GOOD. Life flows, things are easy, there’s joy and laughter, there’s inner peace, there’s magical moments. It’s a good feeling.

And I know when I’m not connected. I know when fear is the greater energy and I’m angry or frustrated or impatient or scared.

So picking this card is a reminder to get connected. To remember your faith in your Higher Power, and take time to nurture that – however that looks for you, in your life.

Choosing this card is also a very good sign of transformation.  So while you might find yourself facing some fears this week, perhaps you might also find yourself banishing those fears for good.

Card 3 – The Novice

The keywords for this card include innocence, beginner, ignorance, new skill without practice, unstable curiosity. I love that – unstable curiosity. I have definitely felt, at different times of my life, unstably curious.

The Novice appears when you’re learning a new skill, taking on an unfamiliar task, or setting out on an adventure that’s a little outside your comfort zone. It just means that you’re in a situation where you might have some exciting new learning to do.

So this is a great time to be teachable and humble. If you don’t know something, don’t pretend that you do. Be open and willing to learn.

New information and skills are coming your way, your knowledge base is expanding. The Novice also reminds you to be like a child and remember the wonder and awe you once had for the world around you; when discovering magic was an essential part of everyday experience. Take that particular energy into your day and watch how it improves!

While this card does take you outside your area of expertise, outside your comfort zone, it also wants you to know that it’s ok to not have all the answers, it’s all right to not know for sure right now. New understanding takes time to integrate, to process, to accept…..so make sure to be gentle and kind with yourself. Patience and slow movement are always required when The Novice appears.

At the end of the day, this card reminds you that you’ve been a novice a hundred times over in your life, you’re always at the beginning of some new area or project or relationship……while simultaneously being on a path to higher knowledge and growth and expansion.

Plus – you’re a fast learner by now; you know you won’t stay a novice for long.
